These Australian versions of Pokémon are truly magnificent

Yes, Australians freaking love Pokémon too.

It’s no wonder they’ve gone mad for an Australian Pokédex, after pixel art animator Paul Robertson posted his creations on Twitter.

The monsters are local icons given the Pokémon makeover: Take “Pavlover,” a monster version of the pavlova dessert; “Uuluruu,” obviously named after the country’s most famous natural icon, Uluru; “Errwinn,” after Steve Irwin; or “Bludioath,” which just means, well, “bloody oath.”

You might know Robertson for his silky work on Super Dino Boys, Rick and Morty and The Simpsons, but animating 151 new Pokémon just for the sake of a few laughs is real commitment.

Now if only we could catch them all.
